This important building in the province of Buenos Aires is known as Casa Rosada (Pink House in Spanish). Being the official palace of the government of Argentina, it is widely recognized since on its balcony Evita spoke to her followers and other figures such as Madonna and Pope John Paul II used it as a podium.

Casa Rosada is painted pink because Domingo Faustino Sarmiento chose this colour to calm political tensions. Pink is the mixture of red and white colours which were the colours of the country’s opposing political parties.
